Rhino Safe Series vs. Bighorn Safe Series
Bighorn gun safes offer the best “bang for the buck” on the market. These safes are affordable with a rock-solid heavy bodied construction and great fire ratings.
Rhino Metals has responded to new burglar threats with a totally new and improved design for the Rhino Safe Series. The new lock system was awarded two U.S. patents for its innovative security enhancements.
All Rhino and Bighorn fire safes utilize heat activated door seals and more layers of fire rated sheetrock to provide the desired level of protection. Since the vast majority of safe brands use sheetrock for fire protection we suggest you look at the weight of the safe and the thickness of the fire protection.
All Rhino standard series safes come standard with two 5/8" thick layers of fire protection in the door and body, providing 1200°F/50 minute fire protection. Rhino Extreme Protection (XP) series safes with improved door design, double X step door design, and new innovative door design provide 1200°F/2.5 hours of fire protection.
Bighorn Safes are fire rated up to 1200°/70 minutes. Most models have two layers of 5/8" thick fire lining in the door and two layers in the body. Bighorn classic series are rated at 1200°/30 minutes.
All Rhino gun safes are built right here in America. Each safe is built to order, one at a time. The Bighorn safes are made overseas and imported. Each safe is individually tested and inspected to meet the highest quality standards.
