I purchased a Liberty Safe, Presidential 50 model, in January, 2011. The local dealer told me it was a new, showroom model built in 2009 that he would let me have for a great price. Imagine my surprise four months later when I called Liberty Safe on another matter and, after reciting the serial number from the label on the door, discovered that the safe I purchased was instead, a used, 2003 returned product registered to another owner. It sure looked new and it opened and locked as it should. Turns out it was purchased in 'as-is' condition by the local dealer without any warranty associated with it. That's right, the locksmith did his own repairs on the inner workings of the safe, put a different 'date of manufacture' label on it and sold it to me as a new safe! That discovery, in just one day, resulted in numerous calls and e-mails to me from the Liberty Safe customer service representative I started with, the regional sales manager and finally the Director of Dealer Sales. The problem was clearly with my local lock and safe dealer here in Montana and Liberty Safe could have easily dismissed it. Instead, they gathered photos, proof-of-purchase and other information from me and then resolved the problem by offering to replace my safe with a new Presidential 50 at no cost to me. I was astounded! They also informed me that they were immediately terminating their relationship with the fraudulent dealer. Everyone I dealt with at Liberty Safe said their ultimate goal was to have satisfied lifetime customers and it showed in their sincerity and by their actions. If that doesn't demonstrate what excellent customer service is all about I don't know what does. Other safe companies might have handled this situation well also, but none could possibly surpass Liberty Safe.

But what about the quality of the Liberty Presidential safe? After extensive research on residential safes before I made my purchase, I realized that many products look pretty, but offer inadequate fire and burglary protection. I became convinced that home safe purchases truly are: 'You get what you pay for'. I can't comment on other safes, but with the heavy metal construction and ample insulation in the Presidential model, I have no doubt it will survive any robbery or fire. I strongly recommend that anyone interested in a home safe look at the videos available on YouTube that demonstrate the burglary and fire protection shortcomings of cheap, retail store 'bargains' vs. a quality safe. Be sure to compare warranties also. I fail to understand why anyone would waste money and take the risk of putting valuables and irreplaceable treasures in a tinny box that is incapable of providing any serious protection other than preventing small children from gaining access to firearms and ammunition?

I am freely offering this summary of my experience and opinions in my own words. I was not asked by anyone associated with Liberty Safe to prepare and submit this testimonial. One final note, my new safe arrived yesterday and was professionally delivered and installed by Kevin Pfau, Liquid Assets Corp. (my replacement Liberty Safe dealer in Missoula, Montana).
