Hi! This is Shannon with Gunsafes.com giving you a little run down on the Winchester Ranger 45. This monster of a safe has been a huge seller this year, not only due to its awesome price point, but because of the key features you get at that price.
Winchester has done an exceptional job at offering security, fire rating and storage attributes on their introductory Ranger series that rival that of some competitors mid level series. Not only does the R45 boast a UL listed security rating, but an auxiliary relocker, 3-way active bolt work / 4 sides of bolts, and a UL rated S&G mechanical lock, which decidedly puts it ahead of most safes in this category.
When looking for a gun safe, I think a minimum of a 1 hour fire rating at a temperature of 1200-1400 degree, is the best place to start. Although most house fires rarely burn this long before being reduced to much lower temperatures, that 1 hour just gives you a nice peace of mind. And on the Ranger series, Winchester felt it was a good place to start as well. Just adding one more great feature to the R45.
Also, a really nice feature is its height. At 72”, the R45 offers ample overhead shelving for hand guns, ammo or valuables, and with 42 inches of width and 30 inches of depth, there is plenty of room for its maximum capacity of 51 long guns, without being too crowded. And when you combine its size with the factory installed, full-length door storage panel, it makes for major arsenal possibilities.
It’s available in two high gloss paint finishes, both black and granite, which lends itself to a much more attractive aesthetic than the usual matte textured finishes, and the chrome hardware adds the finishing touch.
All in all, I would definitely recommend the Ranger 45 to anyone looking for a little bigger safe, with “biggest bang for your buck” features.
