Product Details

The MicroBioVault uses biometrics, specifically fingerprint recognition, to access the safe contents. A high-performance algorithm is used to achieve speedy identification of enrolled fingerprints; and at the same time has a very low False Reject Rate (FRR) for a given False Accept Rate (FAR). This self-learning algorithm of the GunVault Bio adds new minutiae to the fingerprint sensor, which decreases the likelihood of FRR, updates slight changes that might occur over time to an enrolled fingerprint, as well as to help distinguish variations between the enrolled fingerprints. System can handle a maximum of 15 fingerprint templates.

The MicroBioVault unique, notebook-style design allows you to take your handgun or valuables with you. Incredibly compact and lightweight, this safe will fit inside a briefcase or day-pack and can be quickly accessed with GunVault’s No-Eyes® biometric technology.

I got my gun vault and loaded it with 4 new batteries from a local chain store. Everything worked fine for the first few days...then disaster hit. I went to open the vault and all I got was a green light and a double "click" from the vault...it wouldn't open. Tried the emergency key...it wouldn't open. Before using force I took it to a friend who owns a safe company in town (and had recommended this vault). With infinite patience and a quick slap on the counter he got the vault to open using the key. Then He explained how DURACELL batteries worked while others didn't. After changing to DURACELL batteries I've had no problems with the vault and it's performing as specified.

This safe is great. Fits my Beretta 92FS (large handgun) very nicely, with room for two magazines. I was actually able to fit that gun AND a S&W Airweight at the same time (minus the magazines). The padding is nice -- you could even carry this around without the gun sliding around much. The bio lock works really well, and allows for a bunch of different users. The construction feels super solid on the whole unit. I actually purchased a GVB1000, but although it has much larger outer dimensions, i could actually fit less in it than this MVB500, just because of the way it opened, etc. Service from gunsafes.com was great.
